"We are the world, we are the children...." (sing Michael, sing...).
Sounds familiar?...
Well... Some of our French members came up with a crazy idea (yes, Frogs can be crazy too).
We are about to release a CD to support MacMusic. All the big big $ made with it will go directly to MacMusic.
If some of you englishmen, americans, australians, tahitians, whateverians could participate, that would be good news !
So basically, the idea is to give away one of your audio treasure (I mean a song, an instrumental...) knowing you won't get paid in return. Ain't that exciting?...(who said NO?!...). You will of course remain the only owner of all rights regarding this piece of work.
If you're interested (and know how to write a song), please send me an email.
Thank you for your attention. (who said "Bite me!" ?....).

Mr. T,
Feel free to check out any of the songs on my site. If you find one that you think would do, just let me know. Some of the songs need remixing. Just click on my signature to go to the site.

Yeah, Mr. T, I pretty well imagine you'll be receiving an offer or two to use some stuff I was involved in one way or another. Mebbe you will know it has "Levon River" connected with it, mebbe you won't. Mebbe you will be able to tell whether it was done in PT or not, mebbe you won't. blink.gif rolleyes.gif cool.gif laugh.gif

Either way, I think yer CD idea is a hit! I'll be in line to buy one. wink.gif

Thanks guys! Just one thing... Don't give away too much of those links... Otherwise people won't buy the CD!... (-;
I'll check those songs anyway, but some unreleased stuffs would be even greater !
We were also thinking (thinking frogs...what a strange world...) that MP3 should be avoided... All candidates can send me the original files via email (since attachements are not possible via the site, send me an email and I'll get back to you so that you'll get my private email).
Now... What about the others??!!... Come on guys, I'm sure there are plenty of talented freaks on this board!! Don't be shy! Keep it coming!
Thank you.

Is there a deadline for finished songs? I'd be happy to come up with something (good or bad is for you to decide!) but how long have I got?

I would say about a week or two...or three?... many people have replied but it takes time to receive all of the CD's or emails... and when it's done, I'll still have to perform a little mastering of the whole thing (mostly levelling and creation of the playlist).
I repeat, for those interested, keep me posted via email.
Thank you

Unless we have proved we can earn lots of $$$ from our songs, I really don't see why we should try to hide our demos, LastMachine blink.gif

That is of course if we are proposing a specially written new one for MM.

The more people hear our demos, the more likely we'll get listened to - er, is that a pleonasm? wink.gif

Listen to add9 's demos on her site - wow!

It would be nice to have on MM a list of members' sites with demos on. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

Hi guys, I've received many offers (musical ones!) via mail... I'm getting overwhelmed...... Anyway, if, as Add9, you wish to directly send me your song by email, please do it using the format: AIFF/44.1/16 (if you really can't, I'll perform the conversion). "Stuff it" if possible...
Wait...no... you'll still have to send me an email first (so that I can reply and give you my eamail address) since mails via the forum don't provide attachements option.
And PLEASE, just send me ONE email not two or three ("forgot to say", 'BTW, did I mention"...). My mail box is already suffering a lot. Thanks guys!
Regarding the mastering thing, once again, it will mostly consists in some levelling of the songs...that's it... I don't have time to perform EQ, comp, limitation or anything else... Furthermore, I'm not sure the artists would appreciate ! (-;

Hi there !
First of all, thanks to all the good souls who have replied by email (sorry for the eventual delay... I'm doing my best...).

Infos:
- considering the number of replies, we'll have to make a selection. I'm actually working on puting together a jury that will be fair and impartial (if there is such !...).
- all demos should be sent before the first week of February (otherwise, this could never end...).
- due to the fact that many of you have sent me a link to their website, I need some time to listen to all those tunes... so please, don't worry, I'll get back to you...just need a few days.
- we're also putting together an association (for the legal matters) which will be in charge of collecting the money from the sales and which will garantee everyone of you that they remain the only owners of their rights (only the money goes to the website not the ownership of the songs !).

This is pretty much it. Thanks again for participating and keep up the good work.
See you.

Even if it was made on your grandfather's two tracks, I'll take it!! (-:
But please guys, once again, don't give away those link... who's gonna be interested in the CD if they can listen to your music via the Net??...
So everyone, hide those links and send me an email.

Hi there, just a quick note to keep those who wanted to participate posted...
Since MacMusic is originally a french Website (thus bound to french laws), it appears that a project like this one is way more complicated to put together than we thought it would be in the first place... Ahhh France...what a great place to live... but what a complicated mess when it comes to legal or financial matters !... So... we're actually working on a solution so that this nice adventure can go on... Thanks anyway and again to those of you who have answered to the "Duty Call"... I'll keep you posted as soon as I get more infos...
See ya!

I don't like the sound of that! blink.gif

It would be a real shame not to put out this MacMusic "tribute" CD - I was really looking forward to it. Surely if everyone is donating their tracks for free there can't be too many problems?

Of course, I'm neither french nor a lawyer, so I could be talking through my hat. All the same, I hope the CD idea can continue. We've been busy here finishing a track especially for it, so I hope you'll have some good news for us soon, Mr T! cool.gif

i'd like to contribute to the cd, but i use dp3 and feel all excluded!
while i've found GREAT forums for troubleshooting for dp3, (motu-mac and digital performer yahoo groups), there is no cd collaboration recently, though i know they did one a while back for 9/11.
i wandered over to you guys and tho i dont use logic or cubase, find the tone of this website unpompous and helpful contextually, so thanks to you all. BTW, i'm in Italy.
cheers, or salut!

You should be able to bounce down the DP3 tracks into a stereo AIF or WAV file.

Then send that file to your collaberators and they load it up into Logic or Cubase and add their stuff.

Then they bounce down their tracks (excluding the track you sent them) into a stereo AIF or WAV file and send that to you which you load up into DP3 to mix with your original unbounced tracks.

It's possible to collaberate cross-platform. Just a little more inconvenient.

Hi everyone. Just a quick note to let you guys (and girls) know that the damn CD is finally going to be released...Yipeeee!!... After many weeks of legal and rights nightmare, some of us (special thanks to Miss Kiki) have found the solution (releasing music in this country is a real pain in the *Uknowwhat*...).
A jury, composed of two teamers(LPM and Yukulele), an honorable member (whose job happens to be music critic in various magazine and french TV show) and probably one or two other members, will fullfill the difficult task to choose titles among all the demos we received. So... more to come...
Thanks again to all those who participated.
Peace.

Good news: no selection was finally necessary... Since some members have withdrawn and others had sent several songs (we only picked one song per member), everyone is gonna end up on the CD. Ain't life beautiful?...sometimes?...

There's just one little problem... One of our english members had troubles sending me his song but I finally got it yesterday... Trouble is the CD is already full up (I mean really full!...). So I'm looking for people who would agree to shorten their song a little (you can send me your desired edit points if you want). I'm personnaly gonna cut 30 sec from my "masterpiece" but that won't be enough... This demand specially goes to those of you who sent a song lasting more than 4 minutes...
Thanks in advance.

As for the rest, I just need to perform a small leveling of the whole thing and then those who kindly offered their help to burn the CD and print the cover will be able to start working...
More to come...

Anyway...while we're here...

Please send me the following infos ASAP (copy-paste and email):

Lastname:

Title of the song:
Length(I'll take care of that one):
Email adress:
MM Username:
Member Number:
Comments on the song you sent (whatever comes to your mind but not too long please):

The comments will be displayed on the website to learn a little more about you and your music (don't hesitate to also comment on the gear used to release the song). The rest is strictly confidential and will be used to write legal contracts (I know that won't really be of any use for you guys/girls not living in France but we want to do this right anyway).
