We need to know what os version you are running....if you are on 10.3.9, you need the 1.5 driver, not 1.53.
Make sure when you uninstall the firewire 410, you follow m-audios explicit instructions on this procedure. Same with reinstalling it...lots of restarting and shutting down etc., without the device actually connected.

I am using 10.4.2, and I do believe that I followed the uninstall instructions. Just in case I am going to try an uninstall/reinstall one more time.
