With the little you've included (not a bust on you, really), an extra half gig of RAM will add a marginal increase in speed in either OS 9 or X.
Considering that the trade-in value of your machine is around $700 or so, it's your call. If your're considering upgrading in the next year, it may be better to make due unless you have a performance issue that is RAM related.
