as there should be a MOTU CoreAudio driver, you should certainly be able to hook up your MOTU 828 audio interface to the Garageband 2 application.

QUOTE (steevix @ Jan 11 2005, 22:38) Anybody know if you can hook up your MOTU 828 MKII to the Garageband 2 application? post if you know shoot me an email or something I would almost guarantee that you will be able to do so. For instance, I have seamless action with my Firepod, and it's a equally respectable interface with much of it's support out there. I'd go with this: If it can be played on Core Audio... then it is applicable in GarageBand. -------------------- -Shawn

I looked around for this answer forever. Here is what I have found so far in my own experience:
The Motu 828 DOES work with Garageband. However, I can only get it to record when I plug into the front Guitar/Mic input 1. Even though you are given the option to choose which input to activate when you open a new track, I don't seem to be able to get any line in inputs to work. Only Mic/Guitar 1. I am hoping that the GB2 upgrade may change this for the better. If anyone knows any additional info, would love to hear it! R |

I am having the same problem. Only the front mic/guitar inputs work. The other (line) inputs show up in garageband but don't work (no audio coming in)
Very frustrating!!! Is there a new driver or something we need? |

All inputs now work!!!
Garageband2 and MOTU 828MKII work fine together with the latest drivers installed. Note that users with earlier versions of the 828 firmware (<1.03) should select the "custom install" and both install options when loading the driver. The inputs map as follows: In applications such as GarageBand where the inputs only show up as numbered inputs (Input 1, Input 2, etc.) and not by their name (Mic / Gtr 1, Mic / Gtr 2, etc.), the inputs always follow a certain order. The I/O scheme for the 828mk2 is: * INPUT o 1-2 : Mic / Guitar 1-2 o 3-10 : Analog 1-8 o 11-12 : S/PDIF 1-2 o 13-14 : Mix1 o 15-22 : ADAT 1-8 * OUTPUT o 1-2 : Main Outs o 3-10 : Analog 1-8 o 11-12 : S/PDIF 1-2 o 13-14 : Phones 1-2 o 15-22 : ADAT 1-8 Since Mic / Guitar 1-2 are Inputs 1-2, that means Analog inputs 1-8 become Inputs 3-10. This can also be found in the 828mk2 manual (page 76) and in the online tech notes database ( http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technotes/...7-14.6562762048 ). btw - MOTU email support provides excellent turn around and follow through. ![]() |
