Hey guys,
I have been waiting to convert to MAC for a long time now. I have been using Cakewalk Pro Audio to Sonar products for about 6 years now. Every PC I've purchased in the last 3 years have been nothing but problems. Last 2 weeks have been hell for me trying to record a decent mix. Sonar kept crashing and crashing. Wifey saw my frustration and decided to go out and buy me a new mac along with few other goodies. I was stunned and didn't know what to say. She went to our Local Sam Ash and got help from one of the sales reps. I came home last night from work and saw everything wrapped up with gift paper. I still can't believe it..I hooked everything up and it works flawless. It just freaking works. She's the best!! My previous computer Asus P4PE800 with 3.0 GHZ 2 gig Ram 80 gig hard drive for programs 160 gig hard drive for audio M-Audio 2496 Cakewalk Sonar 5.0 Old Keyboard=Korg N364 She purchased all these goodies!!! My New MAC! WooT!! PowerMac G5 4 gig Ram 250 gig Hard Drive for programs 250 gigs Hard Drive for Audio PreSonus FireBox New = Korg Triton Extreme and of course Logic Pro 7. Loving the Mac Scene!!!! Check out the link! My Webpage |

haha,
Thanks guys. She actually used her bonus money which I did not know until last night. Right now I'm trying to get acquainted with Logic. I successfully installed Kontakt 2 and my whole VSL library works perfectly. I got used to all the key commands in sonar, now I’m trying to configure some key commands. Logic is a great app but now comes the learning part all over again! -Neckbone- |

Yeah see you around in about 6 months....Actually key commands are quite similar from DAW to DAW but I do this to myself every time I jump to a new piece of software where it seems to take 6 months (even with a "Power" guide) to get the real hang of any software- I understand that Logic has some quite good tutorials & you may want to check at audio/midi.com for them as they have alot of cool mac related stuff that has helped me along the way.

Oh, by the way...don't throw out your ASUS machine. If you are real tricky you can slave it out to your mac & use some of your software instruments /sequencing with little more than a USB/midi converter or you can use the networking option that OSX Tiger now provides (there is an article on that in the most recent Electronic Musician & it may be posted online). Trust me you will appreciate the extra processing power & it's kinda fun all the same. I am using my PC to run some freeware VST instruments that just aren't available for Mac (Dub Siren anyone?) with Ableton Live controlling the clock/midi & My PC's soundcard outputs going into my Mackie onyx firewire setup into my mac (with just a lil' ol' oxygen 8 controller to boot).

It's funny because I was thinking of something along those lines. I happen to have Giga 3 Orchestra. I need to figure out how to do this. Ohh great! Thanks for the heads up guys!
