 Midi + Digital Performer + 828mkii, having trouble with midi destination |

I have Digital Performer 4 and a MOTU 828mkII interface. I can record midi data fine but when I try to play it back through an external sound module is when I have trouble. I have the audio midi setup correctly configured for my system and I choose the correct output destination in the tracks window. I know there is no midi data leaving my 828mkII because the midi out led does nothing. I am useing a Korg EMX-1 as a sound module but I don't that is the problem because the signal isnt getting that far. I have read all the manuals to all of my equipment and still can't figure it out. Please help!
