Can anyone help me please. Cubase SX cant switch ASIO drivers on my ibook. I use a M-Audio Duo and it works ok on the desktop G4, I can switch it fine but it hangs with the spinning wheel of death on the notebook. Other music apps on the notebook work fine with the duo on the ibook.

Cubase seems to require a separate ASIO driver for many devices that record fine in other programs [w/out the separate ASIO driver].
This is because ASIO facilitates realtime recording, essential and inherent to Cubase's clock.
I have been avoiding buying the OSX driver because it costs $55 and I think it's ridiculous Steinberg does not supply it with Cubase SX.
One can purchase this ASIO driver and download a demo at
www.usb-audio.com.
This sounds like the problem I have been having. Let me know how it goes.
