this seems like the right place to ask this.
im completely new to the whole software synth thing. so heres my question: would i be able to use my iBook, a soft synth and a midi controller to play live shows instead of just going and getting an actual synth? also-would it be possible to just use a sound bank of a program, like garage bands sound bank, to play live with? |

Try it at home: if your system can handle it in real time and doesn't crack up when things get gnarly, yes you can use what you've got to play live.

With an iBook, you could simply send the audio out of the Mac's built-in sound. If you buy an audio interface, make it FireWire.
