We might add that iPod Shuffle may also be used as a usb2 key storage : 512M (or 1G) to bring your files in your pocket, with the ability to also listen to mp3.

Nice and affordable product : the perfect gift to offer me ;-)

Anyone knows if it is usb class compliant (or whatever it is called, usb mass storage, maybe?) when functioning as file storage?

It would be a serious bummer if you had to install drivers on the computer where you want to access your files.

If I could use it hassle free as key memory, on whatever class compliant OS, I´d buy one at once.

Anyone knows?

According to all the reports I've seen, it can be used as USB mass storage. In iTunes you can set the slider to tell it how much music to put on there and how much room to leave for data.

Our steve insisted on the data storage, and the slider is in the system preferences pannel.

Very well thought out thingy smile.gif nice, cool and entry level enough, nobody can say "I can"t afford it at all" and it'll stand out in any MP3 player display in shops. you can have a bit of iPod for a fraction of the price, why not?

If you look at players displays in shops, you understand right away. wink.gif

Steve said us in the eyes (between the lines) "we want 80-90% of the mp3 player market, point." we have to remind him too we need computers, like new powerbooks wink.gif

always on a tight budget smile.gif

will need something to transport files between computers at school, at home and at friends: a pretty mixed OS environment. and i need music to shut out the dork talk at school. the shuffle seems really nice. random is sweet. rather get an ipod than a simple key memory.

anyone tried hooking it up to a mac booted in os9? if it is usb mass storage that should work, right? just for file access I mean.

eh... probably won´t be any macs bootable to os9 in sight of the shuffle about now... blink.gif
