so in garageband i'm recording my guitar thru my interface and that records good and on time but when i want to replay it in the song it takes about half a second to play the real instrument track meanwhile all the other tracks start playing right at the beginning...wut's going on? i have a Macbook with only 1GB of RAM...could that be the problem?...also i'm running 5 tracks on this project (2real instruments, and 3 software tracks)

Hi. It is very likely your lack of RAM. You may also want to change the size of your buffer. I used Digital Performer recording Audio - and the lag was bad, got more ram, and decreased buffer size works great. However, Garage Band has terrible latency when recording more than one audio, real instrument. angry.gif

Hi,
GB can be iffy with some interfaces. which are you using? Have you had the same problem running under native audio?
i've found that latency issues in GB can be fixed by quitting GB, resetting my prefs in Audio/Midi Setup, AND the Sound Preferences panel, AND then the Audio/Midi prefs in GB.
If you're using a laptop, you probably connect and disconnect your audio interface often. I've found i have to reset my prefs every time.

you shouldn't be having this problem, track count-wise. that said, yes, definitely more ram.
good luck.
