thanks.

No. But I am having problems with my Presonus Inspire and Tiger. Apparently Tiger has crap firewire drivers. I kept getting CPU overload messages in GB or Logic Express even if I was playing simple 3 or 4 track songs and reliability was not very good. I would have to reset computer many times. I am waiting to see what the best option for me is.

Apparently there are bunches of unhappy Presonus users who use Audacity. It don't work. the error message is " Error while opening device. Plese check the input device settings and project sample rate."
Neither the audacity nor presonus wonks have a clue.

But it also may be a Tiger issue also.
I have a firebox, but it seems to be happening on their other products.

Audacity is, or was, a pretty cool app that did all I needed at the moment.

The firsbox, uh, looks nice.

Sigh. sad.gif sad.gif

it seems that we're all venting, but none of us has a real solution. considering everything worked great for me before - i have to assume the problem lies with Tiger. thanks for you comments!

Applications/Uttilities/ Audio and midi prefferences

Then sellect the clock source for audio as external or presonus fire...

that sorted it for me!

Yeah - I've had my presonus firebox cutting out on me every once in a while in Logic 6.4.3 - granted that software is not made to run on Tiger, but still...

I have tried it with both "Device" and "Mac" set as the clock source in AMS - doesn't seem to make a difference, except with some funny issues when using the firebox control to switch to SPDIF clock, and in that case it only makes a difference IF i switch it, and only if AMS is open when i switch the firebox's clock using the Firebox Control software...

I am on OS X 10.4.8 - i may try going back to my backup of 10.4.7 and see if that is any better (just wish i had a 3rd disk - how much do I trust CarbonCopyCloner...?). Because earlier in 10.4 and also in 10.3.9 the firebox was great. Yes - CPU usage spikes, but not that bad. I sorta wish I had waited another couple months and got the small MOTU unit when that came out...

Anywho, the audacity problem is not the fault of Presnous. For some reason the mac drivers for audacity do not want to work with ANY interface besides the built-in. It will not work with my Mbox, nor with the JackOSX nor Soundflower virtual devices. We should lobby the audacity developers to see if they can get that working.

Hi all

I went back to 10.4.7 (i was smart enough to make a clone this time before updating to 10.4.8 - asr is awesome!) and logic 6.4.3 plays back much better now. No more cutting out from the firebox. Weird, eh? However, my experience could just be to do with logic 6 being old and not made for tiger (there are several known bugs with logic 6.4 on OS X 10.4 that I currently work around, but none of them a big deal).
