I have used a AM III- card for a coupple of years with cubase. I just uppgraded to OSX, but the system won“t even recognize the card. According to Didgidesigns note on old and "refurbished" AM III cards, it should work on the newer G4s.

Then, when searching for possible drivers that suits the new audio core system, I stumble across this on Digidesign“s homepage:

"Q: Are Audiomedia III systems supported?
A: The Core Audio Driver has not been tested with the Audiomedia III card, and therefore that configuration is not supported."

Does anyone have any clue if I should make plectrums of my prehistoric card.

Most obliged and thank you in advance

Hey, Montevale-
I've got the same problem. I need to use my Audiomedia III card on OS X, too.

I found a link that says OS X will be compatible with AMIII card only if you have Pro Tools 6.1 -- not 6.0 or less. I don't have PT 6.1, though.

Here:

Good luck. And let me know of anything as well.
Thanks,

I still don't know if the AMIII card will be compatible with the CoreAudio/MIDI. I read somewhere that it is not. It may never be.

Hi Bobby

No you're right. I gave up the whole thing some months ago and bought a new soundcard M-AUDIO DELTA DIO 2496 which is inexpensive and is just terrific. Sell your AM III if poss, and get this one. You won“t regret.

Good luck

Actually I am using AMIII card with and upgraded 9600/G4-400 with PT 6.1. It seems to be recognized and work fine - worked with Pt 6.0 as well.

there is a serial number ID which determines if your AMIII card will work in OS X or not. It is somewhere on digidesigns website.

Apparently AudioMedia III is physically incompatible with the new G5's - different PCI slots
