I just got Cubase SX, and cannot get my Edirol UA-3D to work with it.

As far as I know, there is no ASIO driver for Edirol UA-3D, it works with the Core Audio. (I had success with this using Bias Deck and the Edirol.)

When I launch Cubase, it automatically chooses the internal microhpone (of my TiBook). How do I change this? (How do I use a USB audio interface that does not have a dedicated ASIO driver?)

If I go into "Device Setup" and then click the ASIO driver tab, the Edirol appears there, but when I try to select it I get a popup window syaing "No ASIO driver error."

Help! Thanks!

www.usb-audio.com makes ASIO drivers for usb audio devices. the edirol ua-3(d) is supported. a driver for os X (sporting both ASIO and coreaudio compatibility) should be out by the end of march. so this isn't really much of a solution now...

for what it's worth i use their ASIO drivers with my edirol ua-30. sweet latency. of course, I have to use it in os9, or on my #doze machine.

Thanks! I guess I'll wait, too.

The Edirol site says, "Use the Core Audio driver that comes with OS 10.1.5 or later", although you probably already knew that. smile.gif

yeah, I do know that, and for some reason Cubase won't recognize this. It only uses the internal microphone. Anyone know how to configure Cubase to use the Edirol via Core Audio, and not the internal mic? Thanks...

This sounds like the same as the problem I had using an EZbus with Cubase SX.

Apparently the problem is with the USB coding in SX. For some reason Steinberg ignored the USB specifications that say audio input and audio output should be treated as two distinct USB devices. Cubase SX can only recognise one device (the output) so you can't get USB audio in.

All of us facing this crazy situation should let Steinberg know how we feel.

(BTW, earlier today I posted a new topic asking if anyone knows when Steinberg will get around to correcting this.)

That last comment simply can't be true - I use Cubase SX all the time with my Edirol UA-700, a USB recording interface. Audio goes in, audio comes out. Two separate I/O options in my System Preferences. No problems.

This is using Edirol's most recent OS X-specific drivers for the UA-700. I'd say that Rokali's problem is simply that the UA-3D doesn't have its own OS X drivers. Unfortunately, I don't think this interface is a priority for Edirol.

So Rokali - I don't know what your finances are like, but maybe take a look at something like their UA-5. It's very good value and has its own OS X drivers.

hi,

i also have the same problem (iBook, mac os x 10.2.4, ua-3d, and cubase sx), and i can't get the ua-3d input to be recognized in cubase sx.

so i asked to edirol support. (they answer within 2 days, very good!)
my conclusion is that i'll go tomorrow to the store where i bought it, and i'll try to get an ua-5...

hello,

i've bought a ua-3d, and i'm using an ibook (g3 700, 640Mb ram) running
mac os x 10.2.4.
i'm also using cubase sx, and it seems like my ua-3d isn't recognized by
cubase sx. (i cannot find it through the "Devices>VST Inputs" menu.

can you tell me more about this problem?

thanks in advance,
thomas.

Hi,

The reason why it doesn't work is because Cubase only accepts ASIO
compatible soundcards which is not the case of the UA-3D.
We have successfully managed to get the UA-3D to work fine with Logic 5.3
under OS X but generaly, theUA-3D is a stereo capture card suppose to be
used with stereo editing software like Paak (www.bias-inc.com), Spark
(www.tcworks.de), Amadeus, and others (check www.hitsquads.com for free and
sharware).

Hi i´ve seen the posts regarding problems with the input in Cubase SX. I´ve got Edirol UA-5, and i can´t make it work. I use OS X 10.3.5. In the systemprofile, I can see that the UA-5 extension isn´t loaded. Any solutions to my problem???

Hi gojudk,

I'm running 10.3.5, Cubase SX, and my UA-5 is woking fine.
Have you downloaded the latest drivers on www.edirol.com?
Have you checked your USB port?

Can you be more precise?

Regards,
Thomas.

Hi Thomas

Thank you for the reply. I had a long talk with Roland, and everything they wanted me to do , I had allready tried. So the conclusion to my problem is to reformat my harddrive, and reinstall the system. Its not not the only problem I have, so its probably about time.

Regards

Morten
