Does anyone have experience with tonos? (www.tonos.com)
I am trying to record on tonos' downloadable 8-track recorder (TC-8)
on my ibook, using an interface from Edirol (UA-3).
I am having trouble getting the tonos program to recognize the sound input
as the USB input. When I select USB input on Soundmanager, I get sound from
the built-in mic on my ibook (acoustic room sound).
I was advised to install DirectX sound drivers, but it didn't work, and I'm wondering if there's a better sound driver specifically for mac.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm not used with tonos, but ' DirectX sound drivers' are made for Windows (PC) only... Not for the mac

tonos, by september this year will become exclusively "mac".
edirol, from roland is very new to mac support.
you have a "driver" conflict that can only be fixed by one of these "suppliers".
the edirol box was not a great choice, i suggest you "get on their case", bearing in mind that tonos is a very new piece of software!

Thanks, damann, for your reply.
I'll see what Edirol can do about a sound driver that works for mac.
There must be other people trying to use Edirol UA-3 on mac. I guess
I have to contact Edirol's tech support again. The last time I contacted them,
the tech guy was going to download the Tonos 8-track program and try to
get it to work with their product.
I bought the thing because they said it's mac-compatable, and it has a
wide variety of analog input jacks. It does work just fine on another
program I have, SoundEdit, but that is not a multitrack program.
Just out of curiosity, case I end up using the UA-3 as a hockey puck,
is there another USB input device you would recommend for recording
live, analog instruments to Tonos? I was thinking, great, Tonos' 8-track is
only about thirty bucks, the Edirol input is supposed to work for mac-I'm
good to go.
Maybe it's better to start all over and use some other setup, but first
I'll see what Edirol can come up with. Thanks! Remulak.
