actually i want to ask if the Mbox is the cheapest way of getting protools ? and is it too late to get a mbox now since it has been released for quite a while.....is digidesign going to release any new cheap interface in the near future ?

Yes, in my opinion I would still go for the mBox. It is the entry level for ProTools LE. There is still ProTools Free, however that is only for OS 9.
