Hi all,
I'm planning on buying a new ibook to edit old videotapes shot by everything from Hi8-film to old 8mm 'movietheaterfilm' smile.gif
Do You know any device which would let me import analog video with sound to digital via Firewire? Hopefully not so expensive also

Thankyou,
Oskar

Sony makes something (FireWire)-- I think it's available at Apple's website. There's also a company named Dazzle that makes the same sort of hardware. It has RCA jacks for video and audio, S-Video, and some other connector that I couldn't make out. Go to MacMall or MacConnection and I'm sure you'll find something.

try the dazzle, a friend of mine has working. Or try powerR 'directors cut' but investigate this one as another friend could only 32 k audio record but this device has better in/out faculties and a switch for NTSC/PAL. the only down side for Dazzle is its defult is NTSC and to get PAL you have to play back PAL at software loading to switch hope it was useful
