weighted keys is nice... fully weighted is like playing a grand piano with nice feel... semi-weighted is ok but of course not same as real piano and non-weighted is still ok especially if you never played an actual piano so you are not used to weighted keys but its all a matter of preference... you should go to a music store with keyboards and do a comparison to see which you prefer to make the best choice wink.gif

As far as I know semi-weighted keys don't use any type of lever action weight as a mechanism. This would make them... well... not really weighted at all (in the sense of replicating a piano's hammer mechanism), and consequently don't really feel like a piano at all.
It all gets back to what you want to do with it. If you learn on a non or semi-weighted keyboard and then one day someone askes you to play your new songs on a piano for them, your going to have a hard time.

I ordered the teaching software but haven't purchased the keyboard yet.

My G5 arrived today. I'll send a photo once I have everything set up.

Still need to learn to play the piano keyboard, but the software is pretty good. Even teaches you to read music.
