i can't see the metronome in the transport of cubase sx. i've never seen this happen before...any tips on how to get it to reappear?

I've found that information on the Samson Resolv series monitiors is pretty scarce. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about their quality or had experience using them. Can something better be had in their price range?
I'm using a MOTU 828 (original) with a G5 a pair of Samson Resolv 50a monitors. Often I hear a squelching noise in my monitors and it's pretty annoying. It's a low crackle with a little squelch every second or so. What is causing this and can I fix it? I've heard that the 828 power supplies can be noisy. I'm using decent cables. Any help would be appreciated.
