I have been trying to set up my default mail server for the mail option in Mac OS X 10.2. It won't authenticate? I have put in the information as incoming.verizon.net, and the same for outgoing. When i click on a link to send an email from some webpages, my mail opens up, sets up the email, then tells me that I cannot send the email because my email address is not authenticated. Any suggestions?

thanks, MC huh.gif

Uh… you've put the same server as inbox and outbox? If so you're in trouble. the outbox should be outgoing.verizon.net or something approaching (check)

OR…

As you don't tell the name of your provider… the outgoing mailbox MUST BE the outbox setup by your provider if the account is not on your provider mail servers. It's a common mesure of net security. You cannot send to an outgoing mail server from a different IP.

Find the outgoing mailbox of your IP and insert it, it should do the work.
