i just recently bought logic pro 6.4 and installed it. i have a mac G4 power book running panther for the os. i'm trying to use it with my mbox but when i select the core audio driver i get a message that says driver can't be found (-10202). i have the newest version of the digi core audio driver installed. from what i have read i need to set up the digi core audio driver so it can be used with logic. the problem is i don't know were to find this. can anyone help.

thanks,
darren

Sure! I got the same hardware/software combo.

Open up "Applications/Digidesign/Digi CoreAudio Manager" and set it to 512 for a buffer size (or 1024 if you really want, but I always use 512 because logic is hella more CPU efficient than Pro Tools LE). Basically make sure your buffer size, as set there, matches that in Logic's Audio drivers.

I also seems to get errors from the Mbox when trying to record in 20/24 bit mode in Logic. Dunno why, but it works when I turn that option off. Too bad for hi def.

The Mbox is still a bit of a drag, but I am a Logic Convert! the Mbox is actually more flexible using Coreaudio than it was with Pro Tools because it can now be multi-client.

Good luck.

Can you use Logic with your built in sound? If not then you have a bigger problem than just the dodgy drivers Digidesign has made for the Mbox.

But if only the Mbox doesn't work, then Just keep switching stuff around and making sure settings match. Also try throwing away preference files for the mbox (not the Pro Tools prefs, but like Digi-setup and whatnot). Because my Mbox used to not keep the right buffer size between uses until I deleted its prefs.

I think Logic will give an error similar to what you have if buffer sizes are mismatched with the Mbox.

Also try starting the Digi Coreaudio setup app and making sure it is connected to the Mbox, then keep it open when starting Logic. If that still doesn't work I would say re-install the mbox drivers. And of course make sure Pro Tools is not running in the background.

Oh, if only Digidesign could make a REAL coreaudio driver for the Mbox...

Try going into you Audio/Midi set up in the OS X utilities folder located in you Application folder.

select default input and default out to the digi driver.
you can leave the system out put to built-in , unless you want system sound comming out of your mbox.

try that, and then come on over to http://www.logicproforums.com and tell me if it worked.

good luck

thanks for the help but i had already done that and it didn't help. the only thing i can find is that i need to go to the digi core audio setup and add logic as an application. the problem is i don't have the core audio setup or at least it's not where anyone said it will be. this is very frustrating.

Oh well then - what version of the Digi Coreaudio do you have? The newest is 6.5.2: multi-client, more stable, and no stupid supported apps list. (You have to download it separate from Pro TOols) If you don't have that, download it and you should be much happier. If you do already have it, then I guess go to the Digi User Forums! They are helpful there.

In the meantime do an Cmd-F search for apps containing "Digi" if you cant find anything.

Good luck with that Mbox.

PS: it helps to put version numbers for everything, not just "newest version" or "most awesome version" or "worst version" or "sausage special version of the day with side of homefries" (This morning was my last day of work at the restaurant this summer!)

ok i have come to the conclusion that logic will not work with the mbox and that the mbox and all digi products suck ass. as far as the exact versions of my software here it is.

logic pro 6.4.2
core audio driver 6.5.2(i even tried the old driver)
pro tools 6.4
mac osx panther 10.3

i have tried everything and every message board and nothing works. i have uninstalled and reinstalled all the software and nothing works. i think i will sell this piece of shit mbox and get a real sound card.

thanks for the feedback.

Just out of curiosity, does Digi Core Audio work with other apps? (iTunes, ect)
Does ProTools LE 6.4 work properly? Also, is see your previous post says "10.3". is it patched up to 10.3.4 ? Digi Core Audio & PT LE 6.4 requires at least 10.3.2. I don't see what else could be at issue. I use an mBox w/ Logic Express 6.4 nearly every day.
