I read how to solve this somewhere:
hold down the 'mute sound' key on start-up. (next to the eject key). That should kill the starting chime! Pete |

QUOTE (ROBBO2003 @ Jun 22 2004, 03:42) Yes, this start-up sound is annoying, but not nearly as much as the "boink" sound heard when adjusting the main output volume in the control strip. I use Adaptec Toast and there is a bad one in there too. Can't find to "off" switch for any of 'em. (OS9). In the latest issue of MacAddict #100 I found this: When I adjust the volume of my Mac with the volume keys on the keyboard, it makes a beep every time I press it. How do I shut it up? This is one of those little hidden key combos: Hold down the shift key while pressing the volume keys on the keyboard to silence the beeps. Alternatively, you can squelch volume-key feedback for good: Open System Preferences, click the Sound Effects tab and uncheck the box labeled Play Feedback When Volume Keys Are Pressed.[COLOR=blue] I thought it was a nice little edition -------------------- BING BING BLEEP ERRRRRRR[I]
