Pacific Pro Audio branded mics http://www.pacificproaudio.com/microphones.asp

They are hot sellers in this region, great sound for the price.

Rode NT1A, all the way!! This bad boy records vocals, instruments, and ambient stuff VERY well. Definitely consider it-

Check out the MXL 990. I got one at Musicians Friend and for $60 I'm blown away. Sure, if you put it next to other mics that cost thousands you'll hear a difference, but I'm really pleased with the sound overall.
