is there a difference between logic pro 6 and logic pro 6 education, or does that just refer to an educational discount?

Retail Logic Pro is based on Logic Platinum. They just (primarily) bundled all their effects and instruments with it to make it Logic Pro.
That link you posted looks old. They talk about Logic Audio and VST support, and that the product will be released in April 2003. I think that info pre-dates the revamp of the Logic line last fall. If anything, the product they describe sounds like a predecessor of Logic Express. I'm still thinking that current retail vs. edu Logics are the same. -------------------- iMac G4 1.25ghz 512, iBook G3 600mhz 384, Logic Pro 6, Live 3, Edirol PCR-50.

On Apple's site educational price for Logic Pro is $699.

i just picked up Logic Pro 6 with a university course (though not exactly music production, but just a fundamentals course) for 699.99.
Good deal if you ask me. The offer says the box is labeled "Logic Pro 6 Academic", but they guarantee it is the same thing as the retail version of "Logic Pro 6." |

I just purchased logic pro6 from apple using educational discount and got it for $499.
came in the mail the other day, and there is no mention of the words "education" anywhere on the box or the program screens. |

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I think we've answered the question.
Now I'd ask you folks who just bought Logic Pro -- how do you like it? -------------------- iMac G4 1.25ghz 512, iBook G3 600mhz 384, Logic Pro 6, Live 3, Edirol PCR-50.
