I'm still using Logic 4.8.1 on my nearly three year old computer, and I am wanting to buy a new computer as well as a new version of Logic.

I was wondering if the project files for 4.8 are compatible with the newer versions of Logic. I understand that there is a VST to AU converter but am mostly concerned with the song files, as I have hundreds.

Any information on the subject is appreciated.

I think you will be alright, I started with Logic5, there is an option for saving in 4.8, makes me think the format may be a little different.

Think the automation is different in the newer versions.

FXpansion's VST to AU converter works fine, but most plugs come in AU format now.

Sounds like it could be backwards compatible. Thanks for the info.
