Your friend's ADAT has an 8 channel Optical ADAT interface, also called "Lightpipe" These send 8 channels of audio in and out. out and in run over two seperate optical cables (one way). There is also Optical S/PDIF (Sony Philips Digital Interface) Which is stereo digital IO via an optical connector. The two look the same but are in fact quite different. As for sending audio to and from your computer to the ADAT, that depends on what type of audio interface you are using w/ your computer. (You did not mention in your post. What interface are you using?) Assuming your interface has "Optical ADAT" aka "Lightpipe" ports you can send and recieve 8 channels of audio to or from the computer via one fiber each direction.

Cheers

You can prob bring the tracks in from the ADAT, two at a time.
