hello
i've got OS 10.2.8 and an audiophile USB machine and i've updated my driver software, and my problem is this: System sound recognizes the USB audio as an "input" source, yet says "no settings available for this."

and then when i'm in Garageband I can't adjust the input levels on a new track. Therefore everything i record is very low and unusable. especially vocals.

Any suggestions?

thanks
andrew

sorry about that... i didn't even post the problem, (that's how mad i am). whenever i turn on the audiophile usb my screen dims and says "must restart computer" and freezes. this sucks. i don't want to drive to guitar center again.

i think that you are having kernel panics. try to restore to the os version that came on your restore disc.

if that is still crashing your computer. talk to apple. you may have some bad hardware.

Sounds like you don't have the latest M-audio driver. Download the newest driver and install it before reconnecting your usb audiophile. It will update the firmware and the driver and the kernal panics will stop (at least that's the way it worked for me with my G5).

I have the same problem on 10.2.8 and it pisses me off as well. This is suppose to have 96mhz sampling and play back capabilities right? I can only go to 48k and I suspect it has something to do with this same problem. Does anyone have an answer fo this yet? I have the latest driver as well, so that's not it.
