I want to introduce pro tools into my current studio set up. I record a lot of guitar bands live so I need to get more than 8 tracks into PT simultaneously. Is this possible with LE and a suitable I/O interface or do I have to go down the HD route. The studio set up uses 2xADAT XT and BRC through an ageing Allen&Heath GS3V desk. I'm new to this computing in music thing, so any suggestions would help me when I go to the money men and maybe, just maybe I'll get something nice for xmas. Thanks in advance, oh, and a merry xmas to all!

if you get a Digi001 or Digi002 (not sure of exact I/O's for this one but at least as many or more than 001)... it comes with PTLE and offers 8 analog I/O's plus if you have a mixer with digital outputs... you can have up to 16 simultaneous I/O's using an optical cable or coax cable from mixer to breakout box.
you can check the specs out at www.digidesign.com -------------------- ----------------------------------------

I've been in a studio with the exact setup you're asking about...he has a Digi 001 with a Mark of the Unicorn interface for added channels piggybacked via the ADAT input on the Digi. Works great. I can't really give you details, because I don't know them enough to speak intelligently about it, but I'm sure you can ask him. Here's his site:
