Hey Lucky Luke.
You've got yourself one hell of a computer. I recently bought myself the 12" PB. As for your question, the answer depends on what you plan on doing more. If you are going to be recording, editing, and mixing PT is defiantly the way to go. But if you want midi Logic is amazing. As for the two programs not working together, that's not correct. I was trained on both programs and they work very well together. In fact if you can buy them both I highly recommend it. You can create a great beat you in Logic, add some samples, then import your tracks into PT and record some live instruments and then do the mixing. The way I see it PT is the best for recording, editing and mixing. But I do not like the midi software it provides. Logic on the other hand is an amazing midi software program, but is a very complex editor, mixer. So to have both you have the best of both worlds. Be warned though. As much as I love Logic, it can be a very complicated program. But you are off to a great start. I hope I was able to help you. |

Hello All!
I have never used Logic before but I thought I could give my 2 cents on Protools, the MBox was the best thing I have ever bought for music recording on my PowerBook and at $449 it really cannot be beat! I totally agree with Greatscott94, "The way I see it PT is the best for recording, editing and mixing" is 100% true. Since I have never used Logic I can tell you that Reason 2.5 and Pro Tools 6.1 do work well together and they do see each other when they are open together, plus the MBox is great for getting all kinds of inputs into your PB that Reason can see. My 2 Cents |

I didn't realize that Reason work with PT. Thats wonderful, because I relay love Reason. I am currently using the first generation of Reason and can't wait until I update. So I completely agree with your recommendation. Thanks |

I completely agree with you guys, as I said in my first post. I did recommend that he purchase Logic . I personally love and prefer Logic and the second I can afford it's lofty price tag I will buy it. I just remember the frustration a lot of fellow students had in learning how to use Logic. Of course once they figured it out they loved it. So yes take the time to learn it and I agree you will be rewarded. |
