I have .wav samples of intruments that I want to use in Digital Performer 4 as virtual instruments.
How do I do this? Is there a conversion utility within DP4 that will convert the samples into assignable virtual instruments? Logic does this with ESP24. How does Digital Performer handle the task? Thank you! |

May be way off target here, but since no one's responded I'll give it a try --
As far as I know, MOTU does not have a software sampler -- you'll need to try another program such as Prop-heads Reason or Bitzhead Unity DS-x. Basically any soft sampler that supports midi via the IAC bus, with DP as the control program... Of course I might be wrong. In any case I use Reason w DP 3.x, with Rewire providing the IAC bus interface for Reason. You can choose DP to control Reason in Reason's midi prefs. Then Reason's midi channels show up as output destinations in DP's midi tracks. I haven't worked with wavs in Reason but I think you should be able to load a Reason sampler and import the wav files... Check the Propellerhead and/or Bitzhead sites for confirmation on wav file compatibility w their samplers. Hope that helps |

yeah, I knew if I carefully placed my foot in my mouth that someone with the real goods would pop out and correct me!
Glad to be of service. (Actually I did finally remember the Mach 5 a few hours later, but since I'm not a DP 4 guy yet I haven't really been staying in touch and I've never seen the Mach in action. Haven't heard much about it, but maybe that means that luckily it's one of those DP4 features that no one has any complaints about...yet) Can I pretend that I was just practicing how to post? (I mean, practicing how to post the wrong answers...?) out mt |

Wave samples can be imported directly into DP4, with key combination - "Cmd+F1".
Stereo-samples must be placed in stereo audiotrack, mono samples in a mono audiotrack Cheers: Dixiechicken -------------------- ==================

Currently DP4 doesnt support AU, and Mach Five is an AU device...
Oddly enough. Scotty |

As far as I know, all you have to do is play the virtual inst. in DP.
If you take a look at Battery, Reason, etc, most of the samples are in WAV format. You can use AIFF, SDII, WAV, REX, and ACID waveform in DP3 and above All you have to do is drag & drop into Soundbite panel or click on import button. But if you want to use it in realtime, you have to set up either AUX track or audio track. Then set the virtual inst. as the input , set a MIDI track with output to that virtual inst. |
