I am looking at getting the Logic Big Box based off Logic 5.
It's less than half the price of v6 and has all the plug-in's I am looking for to work off my iBook. It's plenty of firepower!

Any ways, Logic 5 had no OSX support (or so I thought). But eMagic has
released an update for OSX support (secretly it looks)

......am I right in thinking that? unsure.gif

Not quite....

Logic Platinum 5.3 for OSX was released last September, while Logic Gold and Audio 5.5 for OSX were released sometime in November. Emagic announced each of these releases on their site as they happened, nothing secret about it.

I think you might be confused about what comprises "Logic" - there are three versions - Platinum, Gold, and Audio, in descending order. When you say the Big Box is "less than half the price of v6" - that's true that it is less than half the price of Platinum. However, the Big Box ships with Logic Audio (formerly Silver), the entry level version of the software, which is missing many of the features available in the more expensive versions. I would suggest a look through the comparison charts here to make sure Logic Audio has all the features you want.

That said, the Big Box is a great deal (I own it myself) and if it has enough to satisfy you, go for it, although it seems most people eventually upgrade to Gold or Platinum after they see its limitations. Since Audio 6 isn't shipping yet, if you order the Big Box with version 5 now, you should get a free upgrade to version 6, but you have to contact emagic (or whoever your national emagic distributor is) to order it. Hope this helps.
