i know this is stupid but i'm gonna ask anyway.
do you think the G4 imac can be a good DAW ?
i know it doesn't have any PCI but it can use USB soundcard.

and the G4 processing seems quite fast.

please contribute your $0.02.

I guess it depends on your requirements, particularly how many tracks do you require and will you use many soft synths or plug-ins? I've been successfully using my G4 iMac for a little shy of a year now with no complaints. (Although, I haven't really taxed my system - I do mostly simple audio work, generally no more than 8 tracks.) Yes, your expansion is limited with no PCI, but as you stated, USB will work (which I use) and so will firewire.
