I normally use protools, but I'm trying to learn Logic audio. For some reason I cant monitor a new track while I am recording it. I can hear material previously recorded, and I can see the levels jump as I play along, but I cant hear myself recording the new track. Plays back fine. ?

Try the 'software monitoring' checkbox in the 'Audio Hardware & Drivers' Setup
Best you come back with more information like Walter told you Steve |

G3 blue and white 450mhz
768mb ram os 9.1 using soundmanager (no audio cards just yet) logic 4.6.3 I have 4 songs that were mixed and mastered (minus bass) elsewhere, and I've extracted from the cd into my mac so I can lay in the bass. Checking, or unchecking the software monitoring box does not solve the problem. I am still unable to hear myself when I am recording. I appreciate your help guys. -mike |

Hi
Hope you know that there will a little delay on your monitoring(not like protools). You can set up one track for monitoring. Choose one track you dont use in the arrange window. On the far left where in says 'track (the chosen)' you change it to the input you wanna hear. Now you got a monitor track. OR... look in the AUDIO AND DRIVERS window. 'Max number of audio tracks' maybe you got more tracks than that?? And be sure that the active sound card for your track is Mac(if the set up was made with PROTOOLS hardware). Hope you solve it. -------------------- chumz
