I use Protools Free to edit together my DJ mix sets. When I bounce the final edited layout to disc (File / Bounce To Disc) I am finding the new file to be slightly louder than the original unedited files (AIFFs). I usually try to record as close to 0db as possible. With the mystery added volume I am getting clipping and distortion in the final mix. Just to be clear, I am not using the "Squeezer".
Can anyone suggest any way of stopping this? Cheers DJ Anton |

Make sure you're not Bouncing with the Mono option checked... That would be 3dB more than your original stereo mix (and that would be mono...which is not that great).
Choose Stereo Interleaved. -------------------- |

Thanks for the suggestion Mr T,
But I have been using the setting you describe, and still I have the same probem. It must be something in the way Protools mixes during 'Bounce to Disc' compared with a straight sound file export. Anyway I am still having the same problem with the 'Bounce to Disc' sound out being louder than the imported sound files and the resulting mix sound distorted with clipping. |

are you using a master fader? if you add a master fader to your tracks... it will show you what the final signal output should sound like and giving you the control to reduce the volume. It will also show you if you are mixing your signal too hot thus creating the distorted clipping sound which will show up as red in the master fader levels. Hope that helps.
