I have 467 MHz G4 processor with 850Mb RAM.
My sequencer stops, showing 'Core System Overload 10010', with only 3 tracks active, and the silververb plug-in effect, although I am actually using 24 tracks. It is very difficult to do anything 'live' and I'm wondering what is the cause, and whether I can allocate more virtual memory. If so, how? Does the size of audio files open in the program affect the running of the software?? Please help! Brett |

I'm using Logic 5.5, OSX 10.3, 1st Generation G4 (single processor) 467 MHz, 15Gb free hard drive space (total 30Gb).
I also have a problem of what seems like a slightly higher level in the left than the right, which becomes very prominent when using reverbs. I have checked out everything I can think of - headphones, cables, analogue mixer, headphone/line out jacks of the Echo Mona DAW, and checked all the settings in the computer mixer. It seems like it's a problem either with the Echo Mona hardware, or with the computer hardware itself. |

Are you recording on your OS drive?
Not sure what the speed of the stock drive in that model of G4, you should be able to use the system profiler to find the model number, then you can look up the specs on the web. what you are looking for is 7200rpm, 8Mb cache. That model of G4 should have the cables and wiring for adding a second IDE drive. Do the levels appear unbalanced on Logics meters?, if not use the internal sound or headphones to see if the imbalence was recorded, or due to you interface. You can try playing around with the buffer settings in Logic. Because you have an overload I don't think it's a disk problem. Not sure that it will affect 5.5, but dowload the Pro Application Support patch. You also might want to think about upgrading Logic, the freeze function was a lifesaver when i was using my recently retired G4/400. -------------------- G-Dub
