is it possible to download from an olympus dm-10 or 20 digital recorder to an old beige pre usb power mac with a pci firewire card installed (each firewire device has a slot for a usb cable).
i'm a composer who since the late 1960's has composed and archived with cassette recorders. seems like as good a time as any to change. so, i'd appreciate any information since i'd really like to purchase a dm-10 or 20. thanks in advance to any respondants... |

Well, technically if you have firewire, you can look at several different cheap firewire interfaces that would definitely do what you want it to do (m-audio has a couple to choose from). What you want to consider is whether or not your current mac is up to the task. Most of the interfaces that are out there currently support OSX only so you will want to do some research at the mac website to see if your old powermac will be able to support OSX. If so, you are in luck. If not, don't despair. You can pick up a mac mini for 400 bucks (starting price).
