I have a firebox connected to my powerbook viå firewire. Ethernet cable connection to internet coming from wall into a modem, then into computer. Speakers hooked up to outputs on Firebox. Problem is, I'm getting a bloody TV station through my speakers at all times, even when no apps. are running. The only thing stops it is to disconnect the ethernet from the computer. I'm paying 54 smackers a month to get a clean internet signal and all the cable company (Comcast) can tell me is that if I want a repair tech to come out and test the line, I might have to pay $50 for the service call. Anyone had this problem, how did you fix it and what are the alternatives?

hey, a couple things i'd try.

first off, how loud is it? I currently (and quietly)have this on my system on a particular input on my delta 1010 interface, where even if I've got the volume @ 0 I still get TV noise through the speakers at a very low volume. I mute that specific channel (this specific channel is a cable reciever though) and the problem goes away. So i'd try removing all inputs to see if this is coming through a specific device/input and look at it that way first

I've seen all kinds of interference on the shield of RG6 or RG59 cabling coming from the wall. I'd go out and get a little device called a groundbreaker (for RF applications) and insert it between your cable modem and the wall. I'm betting that most likely you're recieveing some of a TV signal on your shield and it's getting out to your speakers.
you might also want to try some different Cat5 cables as well to make sure it's not a cable problem

good luck
