not sure why you are talking about the xserve - these are servers produced by apple and nothing to do with logic pro - you can run logic successfully on a powerbook or any mac as long as it is has a fast ast enough processor. so the promo makes complete sense.

WARNING WARNING

RANT ALERT RANT ALERT

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

Considering the fact that Apple refused to give me an upgrade price from eMagic LOGIC I will never ever buy Apple's LOGIC.

Apple has no regard for customers that show loyality. I was using and upgrading in LOGIC ever since it came on the market. When Apple bought out those German guys I asked for an upgrade/crossover from LOGIC platinum to Apple LOGIC PRO and they said NO UPGRADE PRICE. Although APPLE'S attitude may actually reflect the current generation way of doing business.

Also if Apple wrote their PRO programm the way they have written their GarbageBand then that's why the PRO is not really a PRO in audio sequencing.

I bought an update of logic 5 to logic 6 and after logic 6 to logic Pro. I did not have problems. In the update of Logic 6 to Pro they gave plugs by a value very superior to the cost. They were very good updates.

Yes, but please read the news ! Just have a look on the link in the news :
http://www.apple.com/promo/logicpro/

I know the Xserve is a server produced by Apple, thanks ! If you buy Logic Pro 7 AND : PowerMac, powerBook or Xserve, you will have a $500 rebate on Logic Pro 7. But in this offer : no iBook, no Imac, no Mac mini.

I agree with the processor speed, but remember the powerbook (in the offer) has a G4 processor, and the iMac (out of the offer) has a G5 processor...

This Apple offer looks as a music special offer" ("recording deal" said Apple), and I agree with you "Xserve has nothing to do with Logic", but it's the promo !

Homer Simpson voice 'mmmm xserve logic node drool'.
They probably want to market Logic Express at the ibook? Or there just is not enough margin in an ibook sale to then give $500 back...

I believe that the supply has not thought it well. They are in a hurry for the vacations. If they included ibook, Mini and imac always would gain more. For them, the cost of Express and Pro is the same.

Okay. Macmidiguy, your rant was a bit unfair. I'll stand behind someone who has a legitimate technical complaint, but it looks to me like you really didn't do your homework here. You must have talked to the wrong department. I was also an eMagic Logic Platinum user, and I got an Apple Logic Pro upgrade no problem for $299. Who did you call about this upgrade? It couldn't have been Apple, because Apple cheerfully upgraded me from Logic Platinum to Logic Pro. I'm afraid you may have made yourself a victim by not calling around enough and talking to the right people. While I may agree that there may be some customer service problems creeping into Apple, I'm not ready to say they have no regard for loyal customers. Did you have a legitimate copy of Logic Pro you were trying to upgrade? If you didn't, pirated, dongle-less Logic software is not upgradeable.

As for the comment about Logic not being a Pro Program, I'm sure there are at least 50,000 professionals using Logic Pro who would beg to differ with you vehemently on that point. Logic is by far the most professional music program I've ever used, learning curve and crappy manual indexes notwithstanding. I'm willing to put up with a couple of headaches to use such a fabulous program.

I don't mind a rant every now and then, but I'm standing by Apple on this one.
