Will you expand on why you feel the presonus might sound better? The Lexicon has respectable dbx Silver preamps.

I also like the fact that it is $100 less.

You shouldn't believe all the marketing hype that they use when referring to their onboard preamps. Digidesign says that they use Focusrite in their Mbox (they're nice, but in no way compare to the "Focusrite" pres that most people consider. DBX silver pres are not that great either. It all comes down to how they perform in real life situations.

The presonus firebox has pretty good A/D conversion, and I guarantee you that the onboard pres are as good or better than the bluetube pres. It would just be easier to go ahead and get a quality option from the beginning. You would have a great firewire interface, with two pretty good pres. You could then build on that later by adding better preamps. To get better than the onboard presonus pres you would have to go with something like the RNP or the GT Brick.

Now to just confuse things that much more, what about the Focusrite Saffire?

Well decision done. I bought a Presonus Firebox. I wanted firewire and Cubase LE. Thanks for the input!
