Hi all -

I hope nobody else has had this problem, but then maybe someone else has and can help me out.

I just bought the Antares AutoTune 3 RTAS for my Digi001 rig and everytime I open the plugin it crashes my machine (G4 running 9.2.2). It appears to close out the project I'm working on while keeping the ProTools menus at the top of the screen and then locks up the machine fully (can't even force quit anything). Only once have I gotten a partial error message saying 'Unexpected Error - Finder ". I have spoken with tech support at Antares for the last couple of days and tried everything they have suggested to remedy and test the situation, but so far everything else works fine except this particular plugin, including Kantos (another Antares plugin.)

I work as a Network Sys Admin at Stanford and really know what I'm doing as far as Mac troubleshooting and repair, but DANG, I'm frustrated with this one. I've tried running PT with an absolutely vanilla base level of extensions, tried reinstalling the plugin multiple times, etc.

Anyone got any suggestions or experienced this before?!?! Anyone?!?!

Bueller?....

TIA,

Ben

Are you using PTLE along with DIGI001? If yes, what version do you own?

Yes, I'm using PTLE version 5.0.3 with the Digi001 and the plugin is 3.0.3, although I have tried updating it to 3.10. No difference, still crashes...

I would personnaly upgrade to PT 5.1.1 (which is worth it anyway only for the stereo files/tracks support)...

From the Antares website:
System requirements:
Macintosh TDM, RTAS, MAS and VST
* A Macintosh with a PowerPC processor, OS 8.6 or higher and OS version as required by the host application.
* A host program that supports the appropriate plug-in architecture.
* Auto-Tune 3 TDM and RTAS require Pro Tools™ 5.1 or later.
* The minimum hardware is a Mix System.

They say 5.1 or later... That must be the problem.

Got home and checked and it turns out it's PT 5.1.1, I'm running OS 9.2.2 on a G4 w/ monster RAM, but no Mix hardware, just Digi001. The box says it will run on any Mac OS that supports software that runs RTAS, VST or TDM plugins (which of course ProTools LE 5.1.1 does.) Any further suggestions?

Antares only has one tech support guy for their whole product line worldwide (amazing, but frustrating) and while he's been very quick about responding, he said he's got to talk to the developers to see what they say since he's out of suggestions. Got any ideas?

Just a stupid thought...are you sure the version you've installed is the RTAS version, not the TDM one...wait, no it's a stupid thought indeed , PTLE shouldn't even be able to "see" it (=it shouldn't appear in the plugs menu). Sorry I'm out of thoughts (even stupid ones) for now...
Have you tried the classical "always good to try in last ressort" trash PT&DAE prefs?... you never know...

Yeah, I already tried throwing out the DAE and PT prefs. I keep trying it with different extensions loaded, and I'm just about out of ideas. I got it to crash out of the PT menus and go to DAE menus just as it froze to death. Dunno... I'm frustrated though. Antares says their developers are working on it, but they can't replicate the problem, so I may just be screwed here.

Frustrating indeed... Have you checked your Plugins folder (DAE folder) and make sure only one version of Autotune is installed?...

Yep, there's only one Autotune plugin in the DAE folder. I reinstalled it again last night (for the 5th time) just to make sure things were kosher. Next up is dumping PT and reinstalling that. (Sigh) PITA.

Right now, I'm on vacations in some faraways mountains answering you on a PC laptop (what a drag...). If you can wait until next friday (maybe saturday), that is the 23rd or the 24th, I might have a good solution for you to try out. If you're interested, send me an email with your personnal email adress. I'll get back to you when holidays are over (in a week or so).
