Hopefully someone can help.

I'm trying to record my old DATs via a Tascam D20 connected up to the S/PDIF input on a Firewire 410 into CubaseSX3 on Mac OSX 10.3.7 - the 410 user guide says to set the inputs within Cubase 'Device Setup' to the S/PDIF Digital input L and R - trouble is, I can't find the digital inputs in Device Setup as they're not listed - all I can see are 4 inputs labelled Firewire 410 Multichannel 1 - 4 respectively.

I can hear the audio fine from the audio interface directly to my monitors - but there's no signal going into Cubase..

How do I set Cubase to see the digital input from the Firewire 410?

Any help with this would be really appreciated!

Thanks

OK - for anyone out there who has a Firewire 410 - it looks like the 4 'multichannel' inputs should be routed as follows: Inputs 1 and 2 are the analog inputs that are routed from the 2 line inputs and 2 mic/inst inputs busses (only 1 set available at any given time) on the interface itself. Inputs 3 and 4 are routed from the digital S/PDIF or optical inputs buss. This really ****** me off - why don't manufacturers ensure that the manual information is correct - it would have saved me a whole lot of time! angry.gif

Anyway - now that I've found that out, I've finally got the signal from my DAT into Cubase and renamed the inputs accordingly. Unfortunately, this has now presented a further problem. sad.gif

I've set the S/PDIF input to 'external' sync so that I can lock to the sample rate from my DAT. The signal is received in Cubase but is full of clicks etc.. I've checked the sync source in Cubase but I only get the option for 'Internal' and no option for 'External' within 'Device Setup'. How do I get rid of the clicks or set Cubase to 'External' sync?

Thanks..

I have some problems of clicking with the 410 and cubase a while ago, and they were related to latency. I have notice that the latency in cubase SX3 with the 410 is around 19 something with a buffer size of 512. But everywhere I read, around 12 is what is suggested. I tried to go down with buffer size but the cpu power goes up and clicks appeared.
