Hello all,
New user of mac based music here, as u can see...

I hope to have a really reliable audio and midi setup and was wondering how a 2.5Ghz G5 with 2GB of RAM, running Digital Performer 4.5 with a few plug-ins, and also using a Motu 828mk2 as the interface.
Is this a good place to start and would there be any other things to consider?

Any help is really really appreciated.

Thnx!

tabbat,

you hit it exactly on the head, good job. this is exactly my setup (save the PM G5 2.0 for a 2.5) with DP 4.5 (4.5.1 now), I also have Mach 5, and I would also recommend Reason, possibly Ableton Live, and good old Garage Band for making loops.

(Hopefully Garage Band will soon have the ability to Export MIDI files)

Plugins, here are the two that are indespensible, WAVES Ultra Maximizer L1 and AudioEase Altiverb.

This is exaclty the setup I would have suggested,

jk
