Hi
I'm a apple user for years now and was always really pleased until os9 turned to osx and I was left in the cold with my creamware pulsar system. But now it's G5 time for me at last and Logic pro time also, and I was wondering if I could link my G5 with it's analogue output to the monitors, and with the digital connectors to my old and trusty G4 400 mhz wich will function as my digital mixer running pulsar. or do I need a special box to have multiple I/O if so what would you guys recomend to use best regards |

I think you'll need to clarify what you intend to do:
You want to send multitrack digital audio out from the G5 to the G4 Pulsar input, and have the G4 do the digital mixdown? How are you going to get ADAT 8-channel format out of the G5's optical port? |

well not sure of that yet,
the first id was to have all the mixing done in the G4 send it through spdif to G5 as a single stereo stream (there's isn't that much happening on the hardware side) and then send it through the analogue out the the monitors THIS CAN'T BE DONE i'm told the next idea was adding some sort of pci or FW device wich has adat and then send 8 of the 16 outs from pulsar to G5, lets say subgroups (like on analogue mixers) and then go by another analogue output to the monitors. HERE ANY ADVICE ON DEVICES IS WELCOMED the third option is convincing apple to add Adat as a firmware update for the digital out the fourth option is writing some software wich can transfer 8 channels over firewire without any ADDA conv (I WISH I COULD DO THAT) best regards |
