Protools user transitioning.. firewire 410, dual G5 2.0 and can create/write input midi notes but have tried importing my midi files and a standard midi file from web to no avail. Protools it will show up in a track but no go with Logic. Documentation doesn't inform me in any way. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your question is not clear: You mean that you didnt succeed to import midi files in logic?

Did you try to add the .mid suffix to your files , then use "import" from the file's menu (or something like that) in Logic.

Soif,
the mid extension is there. Have tried to import midi files into logic but don't hear them, can't see them and wonder if I'm doing something wrong. (computer guilt!).
thanks,

Soif is right, "Import" should work. If it doesn't it suggests something wrong with Logic or the files you are trying to import. You can also try grabbing the files in question and dragging them onto logics arrange page, this is the method that I mostly use.

Best of luck

to add on to the other posts if i may...

you need to assign an instrument to the channel. it sounds like you are importing the file, but there isn't an instrument on the channel.

go to the mixer and assign an VI to the channel, and i bet you here something.\\

happy recording,

thanks for helpful comments. Finally managed to import files. The other ones were not valid and tried some other midi files.
