Anyone...I have been using Live forever...so I bought a Trigger Finger...and now I cant figure out how to assign each pad to each track. I use the Enigma software to upload the Live settings to the TF. I see its working and I can make a kick or a snare happen. But they both happen at the same time, like when I hit any pad they both play together. So what Im saying is How do I assign one pad for one midi file? Does this have anything to do with the channels? I know Im really close but what am I not doing?

Any help would be awesome..

Otis

What are the samples coming from? Simpler, impulse, clip slot? They each require different set ups.
The bank you upload from Enigma to the TF needs to have a preset you want to use. I've mainly been making my own custom set ups. It was a bit confusing at first but, it gets easier.

Key things to remember:
1) whatever changes you make in Enigma need to be uploaded to the TF (press the upload arrow).
2) select the preset you want on the TF by pressing "memory recall" and then the pad number corresponding to the preset you want.

By far the easiest way to do what you want is to put the samples in different clip slots and then use the midi assign function select the slot hit a pad and bingo. That is provided each pad has a unique note #.
Each sample slot in Impulse is pre defined to a certain midi note # (annoying, I think it's C3 white keys going up) The other thing about using Impulse or Simpler is that you need to have the midi coming in through a midi input track which gets cpu heavy if you're doing a lot. One instance in input no problem.
I'll leave it at that for now. There are a lot of possibilities. Hope that helps.

Thanks alot, I got it working to a point. I am able to use simpler and the sounds I have. Is there a way I can assign, say an 808 to 2 pads and a snare to 2 pads and a hit hat to 2 pads at the same time on different tracks? When I drop clips into different midi tracks, they all three play on any given pad? Thats what Im getting at...I tried the midi mapping and pressed the key, Live recognizes the pads then I get no sound from the selected pad. Still a little confused. PS..i am using enigma to up load the presets they offer for Live.

YOu can do what you're saying, provided you have the CPU / Ram sufficient to open all those devices at the same time.

Do you have RMX ? If you have any Spectrasonics product, you can access their data base for video on how to do almost anything. If not, email me directly. I'll see about getting you assistance via a quicktime download from my server.
One of the ways I have done what you are doing is without enigma. It isn't really necessary with Live, because Live has so many mapping capabilities already. However, you can end up with huge track counts, so a word to the wise when using a laptop. I am no MIDI / Mapping expert, but have been able to figure out a lot -- the one thing I still can't seem to master is how to fake out M-Powered into thinking I have a certain controller it would use instead of the evolution UC that I have. Anyone done that yet ????

As I said, email me directly, and I'll see if I can't get you video
