Can anyone direct me toward a soft that runs under Mac OS X that automatically calculates (in relatively acurate manner) the beats per minutes of an audio music file, similar to what Ask the DJ does? Heh, I don't know of any software that can do this, but you can do it the old school way and use a "Tap Tempo" feature on a metronome and tap it with the beat. You could tap it for like a few seconds, take the result, write it down, repeat that however many times, and take an average? Or you could just do a random guess if you see a number popping up a lot.

Melodyne calculates tempo with enough precision, but if only you want it for that, it would be like having a Rolls to use its ash trays. Melodyne makes very many things and all more very interesting.
