Why not get both? Today's Macs are based on Intel processors and you can install OSX (Leopard) on a properly built PC. You can install OSX on one HD and XP on another, so you can run Logic, Cubase, or whatever you wish , get familiar with various software applications and decide for yourself which one you'll stick to at the end. There are specialists that can build a serious music computer, pre-install and test the software for you, so you just have to switch it on and you're ready to make music.
