Playing Two Software Instruments Simultaniously

hi i like the new look... it's been awile. I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out how i can split my keyboard as to allow the bottom half to control one software instrument and the top to control a second. I have a feeling this all takes place in the environment but i can't figure out where. I'm also unable to figure out how to control logic's software instrument parameters with my midi keyboard. I'm using an e-me x-board. Any insight would be greatly aprecciated. Thanks!

Wanting To Monitor Audio In Loop Record

Hi all, it's been awhile. Hope all is good on the music scene. I'm in dire need of a creative solution so here goes...
is there any way i can monitor my guitar (audio track) while simultaneously recording instrument tracks in loop mode without my audio track recording? I know that's an ear full... i've gone as far as opening a second arrrange window but audio only plays through one arrange window at a time. This is a vital factor in my needed use of logic so any insight would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

On Going Problem With Firebox And Powerbook

Has anyone experienced an on-goinng problem with their presonus firebox effecting their powerbook. I'm refering to a high pitch squeel that others have reported a well as the computer making a sound similar to high activity, almost like the sound of downloading or searching for files. This wasn't an inicial problem but i have undergone several software updates as well as a lot of internet activity an now it has become very distracting. Any thoughts?

Limited Available Memory

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can briefly explain the pie chart in the "system memory" section of the utlity monitor. I'm noticing that as i surf the web there is a decrease in availability within memory. This is a concern because i need everything i've got to get the best performance out of logic. Any advice, tips, or ideas are welcome. I'm considering a re-instal if necessary.

Trying To Record At 24 Bits

I have checked the 24 bit box in logic pro and use a 24bit interface but I'm wandering if my mac is recording at this bit depth. I have a G4 powerbook. Do I need an upgraded sound card for this. I'm not noticing any difference in my recordings so i thought I may be missing something. Thanks!
