Hi
Purists please cover your eyes. I have been trying to get a non-horrible acoustic guitar sound using an SM57 through the Firebox in Garageband. I haven't been working too hard at it, actually, but what I have done is manually set the EQ with mid gain mid frequency and treble gain all the way up (well, mid frequency is not quite all the way up) and bass gain allmost all the way down. I also have the compressor at 100%. Otherwise, no effects. The end result, although containing a lot of high-frequency noise, at least sounds sort of like the acoustic guitar sound I hear on records, and the noise doesn't come through significantly in the overall mix. My stuff is basically 70's oriented rock. Any tips? Other than get a condenser mic.
Thanks Ken
Hey
When I open hydrogen I get a message that says "Error starting audio driver" and then I can't seem to play anything. I went to preferences - audio system, and found the audio driver set to "Auto". The other options all say "not compiled" when I select them. When I try to import drum kits into the sound library, I get another error and the program closes. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Does this program come with any sounds?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to insert track regions in Garageband without them copying over what's already at the insert point? Like when you want to record an extra section of a song and you don't want to split every track at the insert point to make the space for it first? Can't seem to find it in Help, and there seems not to be a section on Garageband in the Music Software section of these forums, which seems kind of strange.
Thanks
Hi
I've been noticing that when I record real bass parts through my Firebox into Garageband on my G5, despite sounding fine monitored through my headphones, when I play it back there's a weird and unpleasant effect that sounds vaguely like there are two basses playing, and slightly out of tune with each other. Basically totally crappy sound. It seems to happen even when I try different effects (e.g. modern rock bass, edgy bass, etc). So I just tried playing my bass through input 1 on the firebox and it sounds much better. I also tried singing through input #2 and although nothing as bad as with the bass, the sound seems somewhat weaker (?). Any ideas what the problem might be?
Thanks
Ken
Hi folks
I'm new to Logic, using it on an imac G5 with Presonus Firebox. Just wondering why it is that every time I open a Garageband project with Logic a new folder is created with a new Logic File of the same song (i.e. I now have a folder with a song X (Garageband) and X1, X2, X3, etc as Logic Files. On top of this, one such song seems to have a problem with the sync between a real instrument and the software instruments in that my acoustic guitar part plays ahead of the other tracks when I open one of these Logic files. This problem doesn't seem to affect the original Garageband file.
I thought I could fix the problem by switching off Auto Backup in Global Preferences but that doesn't seem to work.
Thanks for any help.
