I remember coming across a link on this site a few months
ago; a great utility that let you sort your TDM Plugins list into
folders e.g. Reverbs, Delays, Pitch etc.
Anyone any idea where I could find this link?
I've tried the archives here.. but to no avail.

To the owners of this great site - I willl be upgrading to a full
membership very soon. Honestly!
Well done. smile.gif

I have a Dual Processor 500Mhz G4.
The only disc it will boot off is 9.0.4
I've tried booting off a 9.1 disc, an OSX (10 & 10.2) disc, Norton Utilities 6 disc.
Even if I install 9.0.4 and try and upgrade to 9.1 - the mac crashes when I try to run the upgrade installer.
Basically looks like this machine doesn't like anything above 9.0.4!!
It runs fine under 9.0.4 with Logic 4.8.1, MOTU PCI-324, Adaptec 2940UW, MOTU MTP AV.
I've stripped everything out of the machine, even swapped out the RAM as I heard this might be an issue.
Back to the bare bones of Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse and 1 slot of RAM;
no joy. I've used my OS CDROMs and borrowed discs from friends thinking my disks might be damaged so dodgy CD's are out of the question.

HELP!

I'm about to buy a new system for use as a pro mobile setup. I've got a PT Mix Plus System in my Studio (which I'm probably going to let die because I can't justify giving Digidesign another 10-15K just to stay 'up-to-date'). So... I'm looking at Logic 5 OSX (been using v.4 for a while - extremely impressed with all the features and instruments). I need a Pro front end (I've been using Apogee's in my Studio) and I will probably go with the Prism Dream ADA as it sounds amazing and is completely upgradeable as far as sample and bit rates go.
But which audio card to buy...?
Unfortunately I've been spoiled with ProTools as far as latency goes (by this I mean happily monitoring an input with Plugins on it while recording, while also running up to 40 other tracks with Plugins on them) and I've been led to believe that I can now get this type of performance from a Native system on a super fast Mac under OSX. True?
Is it, or will it be possible for example to record and monitor an Electric Guitar track with an 'Amplitude' type plugin on the channel with acceptable latency while running lots of other tracks in my session?
I've been watching the 'Hammerfall' website with interest, apparently their cards can take on some of the DSP involved in keeping the latency time down. But will this become obsolete with the claims that OSX with it's Core Audio will accomplish near to zero latency with no additional DSP hardware?
I really like the look of the new UAD card with it's ADAT I/O. I was planning to buy a UAD card anyway as I've demo-ed one, and the Plugins to my ears seem better than the Bomb Factory equivalents.
So basically what I'm asking... (sorry for the long drawn out, bracket infested post!) ... can someone give me suggestions for an audio card and... whats the truth about all the latency free recording claims under OSX? Can I get performance equal to my Mix Plus on a new Native system?
Thankyou for bearing with me!

I'm happily using Logic 4.8 with a MOTU 2408 at the moment.
I'm planning to upgrade to a DP G4 running Logic 5.x (or maybe even 6.x by that stage!) when the whole OSX scenario settles down and I'm sure I can have a fully functioning kick-ass system.
My question is this; Having spent many hours importing my Akai CDROMS into the EXS24 (which are all 16bit 44.1kHz Samples), if I buy my nice new 96k audio card and run all my sessions at 96k, can I use my extensive EXS24 44.1kHz sample library within these lovely 96k Sessions?
Doe's Logic 'up-size' the Samples or am I living in hope ... or what...?!!

Question 2; I was considering a MOTU 2408 MkIII front-ended with Apogee DA16 & AD16. This new Universal Audio ADAT thingy looks pretty cool too. Any suggestions?!

I've been a pretty happy Protools user for several years now.
Been putting off buying a new 'native' system 'til the whole OSX audio thing settles down.
I think Protools TDM latency is about 1-3 ms on monitoring a record enabled input. I've heard that OSX with audio units is promising the same if not better performance running 'native' Apps?!
Ideal scenario: Logic 5 OSX running @ 96k, with true dual processor support. Anyone any ideas if l Emagic plan to release a new Pro 96k Sound Card with multiple outputs?
Am I expecting too much? blink.gif
