I'm wondering if anyone can recommend an audio editor for the Mac. I know Bias Peak is the standard program to use but I'll explain what I need :-

I use Logic Pro 7.1 and have Waves plugins etc

Bascially I am remixing the album of a heavy rock band and want to do chilled mixes. I have all the .wav files (24 per song) and want to chop up the vocal lines and then maybe slow them down and change the pitch etc.
SO the audio editor would need to do

.wav file chopping
pitch correction (if possible)
maybe some funky vocoder effects although I can do these in Logic if needed.

I assume most people will recommend Bias Peak so should I go for the Pro version or will hte LE version suffice?

Ive tried lloking up this info on their website but it appears to concentrate more on the mastering/CD dupliction side of the program.

Can anyone give me a laymens guide as to why you would want a midi master clock in your system?

Say I use a mixture of plugins (using a midi controller keyboard) and some audio I record through my Firewire interface.

What would be the benefit to me?

Cheers for any help.

There may be an obvious reason for this but the following is happening.

I plug my guitar into input 1 of my RME Fireface 800 and then use a normal Logic Audio track to play it through.

So far so good.

Today I though I would experiment with Logics own presets for guitar sounds.

So at first I chose a few of the accoutstic sounds and when I strum the guitar eveything is okay.

However, if I choose an electric sound like a preset distorted guitar the sound only really comes out of my left speaker. it is the same for my headphones.

Is there any reason for this? The pan is dead centre?

Not sure if anyone else has come accross this.

Mac spec

Powermac G5 dual 2.7ghz
2 gb ram
250gb serial ata
ati radeon 9650
RME Fireface 800
Logic Pro 7.1
Reason 3

Whenever I start Logic my hard drive starts a failry high pitch whining noise. If I then add Reason via Rewire - it gets worse? Has anyone else come accross this?

I have tried to search the forums with this issue but cant see it lisyted anywhere. If it has been asnwered before - I apologise for the duplication.

Last night I fired up my new logic Pro 7.1 for the first time and tried to import some audio files from a band demo to remix.

However, Logic would not let me as it stated the sample format was 32-bit (which it is). Does Logic Pro 7.1 not support 32-bit samples?

I am using on board sound for this week as I have not set up my Fireface 800 yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. laugh.gif
